The Human Side
Some things people say just confuse the heck out of me. A CNN commentator, in reference to the Isreali pullout in Gaza, paused and said, "We now turn to _____ for a human side to the story". Did I miss something? The "human side of the story"? Exactly which side of this story is not the human side? I don't think the animals much care who lives where, or what the change in the Strip occupation may do for their habitat. The aliens from outer-freaking-space sure haven't weighed in with their stance. The "human side of the story". Unless we're all already in the Matrix, and our robot overlords are controlling the fate of our species, I'm really not sure who in the blue moon this lady was talking about. By the "human side" does she mean apart from the politcal power arena and focusing on the "real" people in this conflict? I have news for you, princess. There's humans on both sides. The people who make the decisions and the people who have to live with them have a unique trait between them. They are distinctly human. If we could have kept that little tidbit of information fresh in our minds, maybe some of the travesties of policy and convenience would have never seen the light of day. The word of the day is "absolute".
